One-liner

Laura is a wavetable, FM, classic analog, and fractal polysynth (AU, VST3, and Standalone) for macOS and Windows. Signed and notarized installers on both platforms. One-time $69 USD, lifetime license.

Short description (60 words)

Laura is a polysynth by Lost Synapse, a one-person studio. It combines four oscillator engines (wavetable with a built-in editor, FM, classic analog, and fractal kernels including Mandelbrot, Julia, and Burning Ship) with a modulation matrix that thinks in shape, a 14-module FX rack, a character compressor, a sequencer with assignable mod lanes, and a Filter+ section with six pre-filter drive characters. AU, VST3, Standalone, macOS and Windows.

Long description (170 words)

Laura is the synth its maker wanted to use, built by one person over years of evenings. It runs four oscillator engines under one signal path: wavetable with a full built-in editor (formula box, brushes, up to 256 frames), classic analog-style oscillators, two-operator FM, and a set of fractal kernels (Mandelbrot, Julia, Burning Ship, Tricorn, Multibrot, Newton) whose complex-plane coordinate is exposed as a parameter, so modulating it navigates a parameterized space of harmonic content instead of scrubbing between pre-baked frames.

Around the oscillators sits a modulation matrix with envelopes, LFOs, macros, and a per-slot MSEG editor on every modulator. Filter+ adds six pre-filter drive characters (Tube, Tape, Diode, Fold, plus the Lost Synapse Aurora, Mirage, Halo pack), a series highpass, and the signature Synapse filter with a Sing fold. The FX rack chains up to twelve modules from a picker of fifteen (Splitter, Resonance, Chorus, Delay, Reverb, Distortion, EQ, Flanger, Phaser, Freeze, Hetero, Grain, Fluxion, Compressor, Murmuration). The sequencer carries per-step velocity, gate, probability, and two assignable mod lanes, plus an arpeggiator mode with a generative Drift order steered by an LFO, a macro, or the Mycelium field. The character compressor has Bloom, Drift, Pump, and Spectral sections you can stack onto a classic dynamics stage. A DICE button rolls a curated patch when inspiration is late.

"I started making music in 2016 and went through a considerable library of synths. They all worked. None of them combined the blocks the way I would assemble them by hand, and the fractal oscillator I wanted didn't exist in any of them. So I started writing my own. Laura is the result."
Ionut Fechete, Lost Synapse
