Terms
Terms of use.
Last updated May 25, 2026.
These terms cover the Laura synth plugin and the lostsynapse.store website. They explain what your license lets you do, what it does not, and what happens if something goes wrong. Plain English first, legal force second. If a clause feels unfair or surprising, write to support@lostsynapse.store and tell me.
The short version
- One purchase, lifetime license. Install Laura on as many of your own machines as you like.
- Do not resell, share, or sublicense the
.licfile. It is bound to your email. - Laura is provided as is. I fix bugs as I find them, but I cannot promise it will fit every host, OS, or workflow you throw at it.
- If something Laura does costs you time, money, or work, my financial responsibility is capped at what you paid for the license.
- If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK, your statutory consumer rights still apply on top of these terms. Nothing here removes them.
- 14-day refund window. Reply to the license email.
What you are buying
You are buying a license to use Laura. You are not buying the source code, the Lost Synapse brand, the factory presets as a redistributable pack, or any rights to repackage Laura inside another product.
The license is delivered as a small text file (.lic) signed by my private key and bound to the email address you bought with. The plugin verifies the signature offline at launch, so once you have the file, Laura runs without a network connection.
What you can do
- Install Laura on every personal machine you own and use. Mac and Windows, studio and laptop, primary and travel rig.
- Use Laura on commercial recordings, releases, scoring work, livestreams, and client sessions. No additional royalty, no per-track fee, no separate sync clearance. Music you make with Laura is yours.
- Make and share your own patches. Patch files contain only parameter values; they do not embed Laura itself.
- Reinstall Laura as many times as you need.
What you cannot do
- Sell, resell, sublicense, gift, or otherwise transfer the
.licfile to another person. Each license is bound to one buyer. - Distribute the Laura installer or binaries (signed or unsigned) on torrent sites, forums, plugin packs, or anywhere else. Point people at lostsynapse.store instead.
- Decompile, reverse-engineer, or modify the plugin binary, except where applicable law explicitly grants that right (for example, interoperability or security research permitted under EU law).
- Use Laura to build a product that competes with Laura by repackaging the engine.
- Claim Laura or Lost Synapse as your own work, or use the brand to imply endorsement of something I have not endorsed.
No warranty
Laura is provided as is. I work hard to ship a stable, crash-free instrument; the build that goes out has cleared pluginval at maximum strictness, a real test matrix across sample rates and buffer sizes, and a private regression suite. But software is software, and I cannot guarantee Laura will be defect-free, will work with every DAW host and OS combination, or will fit a specific creative purpose you have in mind.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, EEA, or UK, your statutory warranty rights under local consumer law are unaffected by this section.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, my total liability to you arising out of or in connection with Laura, this website, or these terms, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, is capped at the amount you actually paid me for your license.
I am not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses including lost recordings, missed deadlines, damaged hardware, session time lost to a crash, or revenue you could not earn because something went wrong. I am also not liable for any loss caused by a third-party host, operating system, driver, audio interface, or platform behaviour outside my control.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by applicable law. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, EEA, or UK, your statutory rights remain unaffected.
Refunds
You can request a refund within 14 days of purchase by replying to the license delivery email. No form, no justification required. Once a refund is issued, your license is revoked and the plugin will no longer activate.
If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital products applies separately. By installing Laura and activating it inside the 14-day window, you are consenting to immediate delivery; this does not remove your right to request a refund within the same window via the refund process above.
Updates
Your purchase includes lifetime free updates: new FX modules, preset packs, DSP refinements, and design improvements as they ship. There is no separate subscription, no paid update, and no clawback of features you already paid for.
I may at my discretion change which DAW hosts, operating systems, or plug-in formats Laura officially supports, including dropping support for very old OS versions. I will give reasonable notice through the Updates page before doing so.
Termination and revocation
I may revoke your license if you breach these terms in a way that materially harms other customers or the product (for example: redistributing the binary, fraudulently chargebacking, or operating a license-sharing scheme). Revocation means your .lic file will stop activating Laura the next time the plugin checks the signed revocation list.
You may stop using Laura at any time by uninstalling it and deleting your .lic file. If you also want me to delete your record from the issuance ledger, email support@lostsynapse.store per the privacy policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Romania. Disputes that cannot be resolved by email are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Romania.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, EEA, or UK, you also have the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence under your local consumer law, and that right is preserved regardless of what this section otherwise says.
Changes to these terms
If the terms change I will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes that affect what you can or cannot do with Laura will be announced in the next Updates post on this site. The version of the terms in force when you bought your license applies to that license; later changes that are less favourable to you do not retroactively narrow rights you already have.
